The_Demon_and_The

I sit and stare
as fear fills my soul;
At the bottle on the table,
standing next to a troll.

The troll is a demon
sent straight from hell;
But next to the bottle
is where he’ll dwell.

He beckons me
with his evil laugh;
As he dares me
to try and drink half.

Death is in the bottle
this I truly know;
But how can I find the strength
to just say no?!

The troll starts to laugh
as I slowly grow weak;
He mocks me and challenges me
and calls me a freak.

“Surly you’re man enough
to handle just one shot;”
Says the troll, as he taunts me,
“A man you are not!”

“For a man can handle
this bottle and me;
Come, let us take the pressure
and set you free.

“Just one drink,
is all it should take.
And no longer will you think
of yourself as a fake.

“We will be your truest
and only friend;
If you trust us, we will see you
to the end.”

The troll moved closer,
as he touched my hand;
He shared with me how the bottle
was even my brand.

Soon I would be free,
with just one drink;
Laughed the little demon,
with a quick wink.

I was trapped;
I was in his domain.
There is only one reason,
because I am insane!

For everything I have
I will surly lose;
All because I trusted,
a demon and booze.

I looked hard and long
at the label;
As I picked up the bottle
from the table.

My eyes watered,
as I cried to God one last plea;
I searched for His strength
inside of me.

“You belong with
this bottle and me;
Come, take us,
and set us on your knee.

The demon saw
that his work was done;
As he smiled
for he knew he had won.

From deep inside
God’s strength came;
The demon’s smile faded
as I took aim.

The bottle flew at him
with such force;
And with such speed
it stayed on its course.

Through the troll
and against the wall it went;
With fear, he ran back to the place
from where he was sent.

Freedom,
God gave me that day;
And true life,
I know is here to stay!
